1. What is this site all about?
It's a kind of nexus point for lots of different creative people. People who are various combinations of writer, musician, artist, political commentator, amongst other things. The structure of this site has emerged slowly over the course of the last three years, with people coming, going and growing in their creative outputs.
Of course! Just email me (Mike) and I'll set you up!
3. Do you have any email addresses @cinestatic.com?
Yes! Lots! Once again, email me and I'll sort you out. you can log in to the webmail version or set up Outlook Express as a POP3 account. Or both. And you too can be the coolest kid in school with your domain name that is difficult to spell out over the phone...
4. The PayPal thing? Who do donations go to?
At the moment it is me, Michael. But since I have yet to receive a single donation, it's a moot point...
5. How would I update my blog, if I were to start one here?
All the blogs here are powered by Blogger. However, unlike a Blog*Spot blog, you won't have any adverts above your writings, you'll get some server storage space to upload pictures, and because this is a dynamic IIS server, there are constant functionality developments such as comments and keyword cross-referencing and even streaming MP3s (if I think you're good enough to warrant the necessary server storage space and bandwidth...). See Smunk Pad, my own writings, for the most powered up blog here.
6. Do you have an icon I can use to link to your site?
I suppose so... if you really want (*blushes*). If you can host the image on your own site, it would be much appreciated, of course (bandwidth, you know) but if you've got a Blog*Spot blog and hence no storage space, I don't mind too much if you link straight to the image.
Which is this one (for now):
Go for it.
7. I'm too scared to comment - it all seems so cliquey to a lurker like me!
Comments make up a lot of the fabric that keeps this site alive. You can remain as anonymous as you like, so you really have nothing to lose. And we're all friendly people really. Honest. Although if you start extolling the virtues of, say, Big Brother, then expect an immediate and comprehensive culling... I mean- we're nice! Really!
8. What technology does this site use?
It's an IIS server and I script in ASP VBScript mostly. There's a bundle of Access databases. I use Dreamweaver MX to do the layout stuff. There's Flash MX stuff here and there. Fireworks is employed for graphics editing. I'm a sucker for the 'industry standards'.
9. The "Search" box isn't that helpful, is it.
Well, it only searches for one keyword in the text of the Features database at the moment. I intend to make a version that uses the Google site search thing. But I'm not made of time, you know!
I am currently looking for a job... [available part time NOW and full time at the END OF JUNE]. Check out my skills bit if you want to know what I can do. Although I would hope that you're sufficiently dazzled by this website already to know that I have got the skills. To pay the bills.
Um. That's all the questions I can think of for now, so you'd better comment some more my way and I will answer them within nanoseconds, most likely, as I foster a terrible compulsion to checking this site and my email (where comments are also delivered en masse, along with a sound effect that I can hear from the other room...) every other second. Once I get one of those html browser phones I might be able to go outside without a panicked withdrawal-induced sweat breaking out...
