90s video WAR!
Daniel declared war a couple of days ago with his attempt to resurrect the 1990s via one-or-two-hit non-wonder Whale. My initial counterstrike is this. I predict increasing hostility in coming days.
Like Bill Viola crossed with The Wonder Years, the video for The Connells' '74 - '75 is like a Guardian Weekend spread about ageing, with added pathos. It is my contention that it is the single greatest song of the 1990s, with the sole exception of Baby D's I Need Your Lovin, of course.
90s video WAR! is exactly the sort of conflict that Owen will win, however, given his uncanny ability to remember everything that music ever did, ever. In the meatworld, he claims to be unwilling to want to sully his aesthetically overly-attractive blog with musico-visual detritus from our youth. I predict, however, that he will be ultimately unable to resist entering the fray.
