90s video war: part III
This is probably the first cassette single I ever bought (It's Saint Etienne's 'You're in a Bad Way'). It's not too embarrassing as these things go (though is it really supposed to be that out of tune?) but I probably came to music-buying a bit late, seeing as the nearest Woolworths was 45 minutes away, and besides, I had my Pa's collection of Tangerine Dream, Fairport Convention and er, early Genesis records to listen to instead.
In the larger scheme of 90s Video WAR it should be noted that Tim has stepped up, twice, with contributions by Snap ('Rhythm is a Dancer') and something absolutely horrendous by what I think is Aussie Folk-Rock band, Frente (though I did like 'What's Come Over Me', which was also played on Neighbours for a while, heh).
Dominic, proving once again that he out-classes us all, posts something about The Fatima Mansions.
Owen, unable to resist as predicted, goes for the less famous Whitehouse track, whilst newby, entschwindet und vergeht, goes for, ahem, The Crash Test Dummies. My grasp on what the criteria were for this war is slowly ebbing away from me - is it just any random 90s song that one has mercifully forgotten but somehow deserves sadist reprieve? One-hit wonders? The plain horrible? Someone draw up the official rules of conduct before we all get dysentery and perish in a trench!
