Day 13.
I have worked two and a half days out of the last 13. The days that, in theory, mark my change from full-time-job-having-occasional-musician to 'going-for-it-as-Smunk'. I'm basically kicking myself for not making more efficient use of my time so far. But let's track it now, shall we? Days 1-6 I used to sort out 'the computer'. That included 3 days of hosting a visit by a dear old friend of mine from university. I was at work for day 7. Day 8 was spent recording trumpet and working on a silly/phatly phunky trumpetty track followed by a trip to the Psychadelic Dream Temple, followed by 2 hours trying to get home and making bad bus-mistakes. For Day 9 I was locked out by my recording software. I went out for a night in. Day 10 I went out with some old friends after trying to install a modem on an old PC (failed. minus-one ego puff point.) Visited the Brixtonian for a late night sticky floor and broken glass funk fun. On Sunday my recording software decided to let me back in again, so that was nice, but I was not capable of very much. I made a little progress by digitising the Smunk performance of Feb 28th for editing-down and future self-mockery. Drank too much Kronenburg at the Windmill. Saw the Larry Love Showband. They were pretty good. Day 11 I went to see Howe Gelb in Hammersmith. That was pretty good too. And here I am at Day 13 with hospitality and extra work scheduled through to Day 18.

Scintillating stuff this, eh? I wish I could write in detail but there are just too many people to keep happy! I might have to change the nature of this blog for a more professional relationship. This is just too diluted. I wish I knew who was reading it. Need anonymity.

So much for a chance to relax...
...not that that's what I wanted.

New flatmates required. Three out of five are moving out one way or another. Great. So the mission entails making music and finding new housemates. But that's just the way things are, I guess. Why can't people just get along? (Don't answer that!)

I had a very embarrassing experience at work today. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Sorted out the computer
This blog is being transmitted via 'the computer'. I got it working through the liberal application of Cash. And very nice it is too! Now there are no real obstacles. I have a CD burner, printer, money and time.

But that's enough about me. How are you?

Sorting out the computer
The frickin' computer's kicking my ass. First I bought a new motherboard. Went to install it... old CPU wouldn't fit... managed to reassemble it as it used to be... bought a new CPU (lots of money)... fitted it... tried to put the memory in... didn't fit... bought new memory... went to put in AGP graphics card... wouldn't fit... I'm gonna blow. I didn't want a new computer! I wanted a utilitarian box to serve the internet, write CDs, serve the printer, play music and occasionally watch TV. So I haven't been able to start the full production phase cos I can't back up my data or write CDs or print inlays or use my mouse, sound card and internet connection at the same time. Itchy as heck, this shit.
