The staunch stench of the upmarket tabloid columnist gets an unwelcome airing through the mindwrong of Daily Mail columnist Simon Montague:
“The recent Yuletide disaster on the Asian subcontinent provided the British public with the opportunity to step in to save and preserve the lives of those less fortunate in the world. They did not let anyone down – least of all themselves.
Indeed, if it weren’t for us, the subcontinent and South-East Asia would not have had an infrastructure for that righteous tsunami to destroy.
Yes, it is a great tragedy that hundreds of thousands died in this geologically inspired disaster. But many of the people who lost their lives were European tourists, totally innocent individuals and their families escaping the fear which is now rampant in cities like London – all for the defence of freedom.
‘Is this a price worth paying?’ – the shower of anti-war, rent-a-mob and morally bankrupt refuseniks who litter the globe will harp in UNISON.
It is vital that the British people stay strong as God’s mysterious ways are illustrated by the fallout for many families (including British ones) from the mega-waves in the Indian Ocean. Osama bin Laden and his evil Al-Qaeda cohorts around the world are the tsunami waiting to break over our freedom. You have been generous beyond the call of duty in donating to Sri Lanka or Khao Lak, but keep some here to hep avert a very manmade disaster.
If only for the memory of those who died on Boxing Day and the aftermath in the Indian subcontinent and South-East Asia, we, the British people, must be resolute and prepare ourselves for the inevitably difficult times ahead. Tough decisions will have to be taken about our fellow subjects and even tougher ones about people visiting our densely populated island without good reason. But I know we are made of the right stuff and that we will prevail; first in Iraq and then in our own country.
I totally abhor the suppression of free speech. However, it is the freedom most regularly abused and I am sure that many right-thinking people felt, as I did, that the actions taken by members of the Sikh community against a religiously offensive stage play about Sikhism were both brave and legitimate.
The Sikhs have a proud history of compliance with the British will, particularly in Amritsar during the glory days of the Raj, and who are we to begrudge them this exercise of the democratic will of their community? Hopefully the decent but slumbering folk of Christian Britain will note this laudable success and adopt similar tactics toward the hydra of wrong-headed secular artists and politicians in Britain today who, at the risk of our national security, unfairly dismiss our noble causes and abuse the cherished right to free speech, which our war heroes continue to die protecting.
I would like to wish all Daily Mail readers a peaceful and prosperous 2005.”
Only the Mail can twist a tsunami disaster to the security needs of the septic isle. Bravo Monty!
